Good morning and happy Pi Day! This is Brandon from Seaside Vacations and the photo above was taken at 8:30 a.m. this morning on the soundfront in Nags Head, North Carolina.

The building on the right side of the photo is Basnight’s Lone Cedar Cafe, which is a fantastic restaurant that’s participating in the Outer Banks Taste of the Beach which runs from Thursday March 13, through Sunday, March 16.

Beach Report
High temperatures around 50 degrees this afternoon with no rain in the forecast during the next 24 hours. There was little to no wind this morning, but gusts in the 10 to 15 mph range are expected on Saturday. Great day for kayaking or stand up paddleboarding on the sound given the calm water. Highs in the 60s expected this weekend and a chance of rain on Sunday.

Surfing Report
Ocean water temperatures around 40 degrees this morning paired with some decent surf. Waves around waist high and semi-clean. Great day to paddle out if you have the appropriate cold water clothing. You can get a live look at the surf just north of Jennette’s Pier by visiting our live webcam.

Fishing Report
Great day for boats out of Wanchese, Pirates Cove, and Oregon Inlet to go fishing given the calm waters. Yesterday was another good day of puppy drum fishing for surf fisherman on the southern Outer Banks beaches.

Thanks for checking out today’s beach report and don’t forget about the upcoming Kelly’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade, which starts at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 16.

We hope to see you soon…. Have fun!
